Carbon and biodiversity credits are often sold on the strength of the seller's own numbers, checked once and rarely again. TrueVeld is our independent rating service for the people relying on those claims — buyers, investors, insurers, lenders, and registries. We measure what actually happened on the land, and tell you how far to trust the claim.
Who pays
The party relying on a claim pays for the check. The party making it never does. We don't calculate credits, prepare projects for verification, or issue or trade credits, so our only interest is whether the claim holds up. We never rate land that we or our conservation partner manage.
What we check
- How the land has actually changed over the claimed lifetime, measured from satellite records and compared with what was claimed
- Fires detected on the land, matched against the declared burn plan
- Whether the claimed starting habitat matches independent land-cover maps
- A confidence score with every factor shown, so you can see why — not a number to take on trust
- Carbon and biodiversity scored separately, never blended into one number
Services
- Desk assessment
- A satellite-based check of a claim, with a scored report.
- Field-verified assessment
- The desk assessment plus a site visit, using established South African veld survey methods, so results compare with earlier surveys.
- Annual monitoring
- Re-checked every quarter, with a short yearly report. A claim that held up once can still change.
PilotTrueVeld is in its pilot phase: the method is built and our first assessments are under way. Pilot engagements say so in the report.
If your clients buy credits to offset their footprint, we can check those credits for them. We don't work for the seller, which is what keeps the check worth having.
